WELCOME to the BULLDOG BAND!!!!
The Umatilla High School Band is a comprehensive band program which includes a focus on individual fundamentals, group performance and musicianship, and a positive, inclusive atmosphere which welcomes students of all abilities, backgrounds, and experience levels.
Course offerings include concert ensembles, jazz ensembles, percussion classes, and eurhythmics classes which includes our fall color guard and a competitive indoor winter guard program. All students are a part of the Umatilla High School "Marching Bulldogs," which performs at all varsity football games in the fall, as well as community, state, and national performances throughout the school year.
Yannick Innis,

Mr. Yannick Innis is the Director of Bands of the “Umatilla High School Bulldog Band” in Umatilla, FL. Mr. Innis began his teaching career in the Central Florida area and currently is in his 17th year of teaching. He also worked as a guest brass clinician with numerous middle and high school band programs around the State of Florida. Mr. Innis has been teaching in Lake County Schools since 2012.
Mr. Innis is a native of the Bronx, New York and later grew up in Ocala, FL where he attended Vanguard High School (Ocala). Upon graduation, he attended Stetson University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. While at Stetson University, he studied Euphonium with Mr. David Schmidt, Associate Professor of Music, Trombone and Director of Bands, Emeritus Dr. Bobby Adams. Performed with the Walt Disney World and the Disney College Band Program from 2005-2007.
In his spare time, he is a guest clinician, private studio teacher and avid performer!
Mr. Innis plays Euphonium and Trombone with the Brass Band of Central Florida. Over the summer, Mr. Innis serves on the Brass Faculty for the Stetson Summer Brass Camp.
Mr. Innis is a member of the Florida Music Educators Association, Florida Bandmaster’s Association, National Association for Music Education, and National Band Association. He is also a proud member of Phi Mu Alpha Fraternity of America (Xi Nu Chapter). Mr. Innis remains an active member and performer with the Southern Winds Symphonic Band. Outside of teaching and playing music, Mr. Innis enjoys playing basketball and drawing.

Sara Pyburn

Umatilla Middle School
Ms. Sara Pyburn is a Music Education graduate of Stetson University. As a multi-instrumentalist, she is proficient in clarinet, saxophone, and flute. Throughout her time at Stetson, Pyburn has actively participated in a wide range of ensembles, including the Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, Clarinet Choir, Saxophone Ensemble, Hatter Band, Pep Band, along with various jazz combos and chamber groups. Her passion for music extends to leadership, as she has gained valuable experience conducting the Clarinet Choir, Symphonic Band, and Pep Band.
She actively teaches around Central Florida, including private lessons, multiple marching band camps, as well as Stetson University's Clarinet Clinic and Saxophone Workshop. Ms. Pyburn's dedication has been recognized through prestigious awards, including the 2023 Bobby L. Addams Endowed Scholarship and the 2023 Betsy Dokken Women in Jazz Scholarship. Notably, she was also named the 2024 Most Outstanding Senior Music Educator in Instrumental Music and inducted into the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society.
Outside of music, Ms. Pyburn has two dogs named Jasmine and Coda. She enjoys bowling, playing pickle ball, and painting. She also enjoys reading and listening to audiobooks.
Umatilla High School Bulldog Band
Our Band Family
The Umatilla High School Bulldog Band of Gold is located in Umatilla, Florida. Our band, composed of about 100+ members and Color Guard, performs their pre-game and half-time shows at every football game in the fall. The rest of the year is dedicated to concert music and Winter Guard competitions
The Bulldog Band has achieved superior ratings from the Florida Bandmasters Associations in both concert and marching competitions at the district and state levels.
The UHS BBA is a dedicated and hardworking parent booster organization, which supports the band directors and band students.
